Hospital Medicine Physician (Hospitalist) (MD/DO)
Position Summary
The Hospital Medicine Physician provides comprehensive inpatient medical care to hospitalized adult patients. This role focuses on the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of acute and complex medical conditions while coordinating care across specialties to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Provide inpatient medical care, including admissions, daily rounding, and discharge planning

Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute illnesses and exacerbations of chronic diseases

Coordinate care with consulting specialists, nursing staff, case management, and ancillary services

Order, interpret, and review diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and imaging

Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans

Manage transitions of care, including handoffs and communication with outpatient providers

Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and care coordination activities

Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the medical record

Respond to clinical changes and medical emergencies as required

Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and compliance initiatives

Adhere to clinical guidelines, hospital policies, and regulatory standards
Qualifications

Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school

Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency program
-
Board eligible or board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine

Active state medical license or eligibility for licensure

Strong clinical judgment, efficiency, and communication skills

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced inpatient environment
Work Environment

Inpatient hospital setting only

Schedule may include block scheduling, nights, weekends, and holidays depending on coverage needs
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout hospital units

Manual dexterity to perform examinations and procedures

Ability to assist with patient mobility as needed
