  • Procedures: Optional—central line and airway skills encouraged but not required; vascular access, anesthesia, and RT support available

  • EMR: Epic with established hospitalist-friendly workflows

  • Typical Nightly Admissions: 5–6 new patients (range 3–11), allowing time for thoughtful chart review, communication with families, and patient-centered care

Hospital & Operational Overview:

  • 450-bed acute care facility with Level III Trauma, Chest Pain & Primary Stroke Centers

  • Average daily hospitalist census: 230 patients with ~55 new admits/consults per day

  • Cross-coverage shared with evening split team for seamless handoffs

  • Rapid response teams and code coverage led by residents with ICU nursing support

  • Hospitalists admit for nearly all services except selected surgical subspecialties

Specialty & Ancillary Support:

Culture & Environment:

  • Collegial, supportive, and organized hospitalist team

  • Physician-friendly culture prioritizing meaningful patient care over high-volume throughput

  • Structured workflows to allow physicians to focus on medicine rather than logistics

Community Highlights:

  • Regional hub with ~240,000 residents

  • Affordable housing, excellent schools, low traffic, and scenic outdoor areas nearby (e.g., Palo Duro Canyon)

  • Quick, convenient flights to major cities via local international airport

Requirements:
