Overview:
The Pediatric Hospitalist Physician is responsible for providing compassionate, high-quality, patient-centered care to newborns and pediatric patients in both the Level II Nursery and Level I Trauma Center. The physician will work collaboratively within the Newborn and Acute Care Pediatrician team to deliver comprehensive care across a 24/7/365 service model.
This position supports a well-established group comprised of two full-time, one part-time, and several PRN providers. Pediatric Hospitalists provide continuous 24-hour coverage through a shift structure of 12 hours onsite and 12 hours of unrestricted call from home, ensuring seamless care for all hospitalized infants and children.
- Provide inpatient pediatric and newborn care within the Level I Trauma Center, Level II Nursery, and Burn Unit.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute illnesses in pediatric patients and stabilize critically ill newborns prior to transfer when indicated.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and the care team to support family-centered care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and departmental meetings.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records in accordance with organizational policies and standards.
- Team-oriented collaboration with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, allied health professionals, and other departments to maintain the highest standards of clinical excellence and patient satisfaction.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Illinois or eligible for licensure.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification Required
- Obtain and maintain medical staff membership and appropriate privileges.
- Eligible provider for Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health programs
- Meets all qualifications for participation in OSF’s professional malpractice and liability programs.
- Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the State of Illinois to prescribe narcotics.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
- Experience in newborn care and pediatric inpatient medicine within a hospital setting

- Daily Rate: $1 - $2,000
