Job description Director of Hospital Medicine: Lead, Innovate, and Shape the Future of Care

Location: Regional Health System in Pennsylvania (Specific location available upon inquiry)

Are you a dynamic physician leader ready to take the helm of a high-performing Hospital Medicine team? We are seeking a visionary Director of Hospital Medicine to drive clinical excellence, foster innovation, and shape the strategic direction of our practice at a premier regional medical center.

This is a unique opportunity to balance your passion for patient care with strategic leadership. The role is structured for a 50% Clinical and 50% Administrative commitment, offering a rewarding blend of direct practice and executive oversight.

The Opportunity

As Director, you will be the chief strategist and operational leader for a robust and expanding program. You will:
  • Lead a Large Team: Oversee a dedicated Hospitalist team of 48 Hospitalists and mentor 2 Associate Directors, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Drive Strategy: Set and execute a strategic vision that enhances patient care, supports academic programs, and promotes research excellence.
  • Operational Excellence: Have oversight of clinical operations, provider performance, educational programs, and the departmental budget.
  • Influence the System: Act as a critical liaison between the hospital medicine department, administration, and other clinical departments to advance interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative care models.
  • Ensure Quality: Lead departmental quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient safety.

Compensation:
MGMA Median - Mean competitive compensation plan and benefits - Negotiable
Generous sign on bonus - $100K
Administrative Stipend - $30K Annual
Relocation Offered
CME Allowance

Qualifications

Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) - Required.
Certification: Board Certified Preferred 
Licensure: Licensed Medical Doctor - State of Pennsylvania (License in the state of practice is required).
Experience: Candidates with 3-5 years of leadership experience in Hospital Medicine or a related field will be considered.
Academic: Desire to be involved with resident education

Working Hours

7 on 7off
7AM - 7pm
Administrative flexibility to work remote
Position is 505 Administrative and 50% Clinical

Skills

Must have leadership experience in Hospitalist Medicine
