Job description
A hospital in Virginia is seeking locum Neurohospitalist coverage for multiple short-term periods in 2026. This is a consult-based service covering adult patients in ICU, ED, and general inpatient floors, with 24-hour coverage on a 7-on/7-off schedule.
24 Hour On Call: $2,000.00 - $2,200
Call Back: $475.00
Job Responsibilities
Admit, evaluate, and manage adult neurology patients
Perform consults and rounding duties per medical staff bylaws
Respond to neuro consults during assigned shifts
Perform lumbar punctures as needed
On-site coverage approximately 8 hours per day; 24-hour responsibility per shift
Qualifications
Active Virginia license (willing to accept candidates needing to obtain VA license) – REQUIRED
DEA – REQUIRED
BLS & ACLS certifications – REQUIRED
Experience with inpatient neurohospitalist responsibilities, consults, and lumbar punctures
Working Hours
Coverage: 24 hours per shift, on-site ~8 hours/day
Hand-off: Fridays at 12 PM
Skills
ICU and ED rounding experience
Lumbar puncture competency
Strong communication and documentation skills (EPIC EMR)
