The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in pediatric patient management and possess strong leadership skills to oversee the hospitalist practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as Medical Director for the hospital-based pediatric hospitalist team, providing strategic leadership and clinical oversight.
- Offer comprehensive inpatient pediatric care, including management of low-acuity hospital admissions, well newborn care, and emergency consults.
- Collaborate with the Level-III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose for newborns requiring intensive NICU services, including transport coordination.
- Provide coverage for high-risk deliveries, ensuring safe and effective neonatal and pediatric management.
- Conduct emergency room pediatric consultations and coordinate care with the emergency department team.
- Support approximately 500 annual deliveries, with a focus on patient safety and quality care.
- Participate in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, fostering continuous improvement and best practices.
- Maintain residency within the immediate local area; relocation assistance may be provided.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Board-Certified in Pediatrics (MD or DO).
- Valid medical license to practice within the state of California.
- Prior inpatient hospital experience in pediatrics.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing or directing pediatric hospitalist teams preferred.
- Ability to work a schedule of twelve 24-hour shifts per month, with on-call responsibilities from home.
- Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care in a community setting.
