Hospitalist Locum job in Coudersport, PA

We are seeking a dedicated Hospitalist to provide crucial daylight coverage for our 25-bed Critical Access Hospital, UPMC Cole. This is an urgent need, as you will be the sole physician providing hospitalist coverage during your shifts.

Opportunity Highlights & Responsibilities

• Critical Role: You will be the only physician providing hospitalist coverage during your shifts, ensuring continuous patient care for our facility.
• Team Collaboration: You will supervise and receive support from an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Monday-Friday.
• Patient Care: The physician and APP team manage admissions, rounding, discharges, swing bed patients, and care for patients in our onsite nursing facility.
• Daily Census: Our average daily census is around 12 patients. Our ICU operates more as a step-down facility.
• Shift Responsibilities:
  • Arrive at 07:00 to receive report from the nighttime team.
  • Participate in DSWAT (Daily Staffing and Workflow Assessment Tool) and interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Round on admitted patients.
  • Order and review testing results.
  • Consult/admit patients from the emergency department.
  • Supervise the APP (Monday-Friday).
  • Discharge patients.
  • Address nursing facility needs.
  • Coordinate transfers to a higher level of care if necessary.
• On-Call Option: If asked to be on call (as backup to the APP), this will be compensated at an hourly rate.

Schedule & Logistics

We urgently need coverage for the following specific blocks. Please confirm in your application that you can commit to these dates:

• August 25-31, 2025
• December 1-7, 2025
• December 15-21, 2025
• December 22-28, 2025
• Shift Length: Approximately 12 hours of coverage needed per shift, totaling roughly 7 days per block.
• Solo Work: You will be the only physician working in the service; the service is typically supported by an APP Monday-Friday unless the APP has benefit time.
