Hospitalist MOD/UCC Opportunity – Altoona, PA VAMC – Up to 55 Days off Annually

The Altoona, PA Veterans Medical Center is currently seeking a full-time board certified/board eligible Hospitalist to join the VAMC team. Your duties will include:


Job Responsibilities

Assess patients for admission and disposition.
 
Admit patients to Hospital Medicine teams, either independently or working with house staff providers
Working and admit Urgent Care Patients
Staff patients requiring Medicine consultation if urgently needed (for example, to guide surgical treatment)
 
Being available to staff procedures done during the tour of duty
 
Being available for acute medical issues that arise on any patient admitted to the Hospital Medicine service.
 
Adherence to VA policies and procedures regarding documentation, patient safety, and utilization
 
Independently assess patients for admission and disposition when dictated by house staff schedule and regulations.
 
Clinical Management including indirect patient care.
 
Manage encounters and consults appropriately, document in a timely and appropriate manner, oversee relevant performance measures.

Qualifications

Key Requirements:U.S. Citizenship (Non-citizens J-1 and H-1B may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.) Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required in ANY U.S. State. Board Certified or Board Eligible candidates.VA physicians practice medicine more and spend less time on business tasks.
