Job Responsibilities:

Provide comprehensive nocturnal hospitalist care, Place Lines (Intubations conducted by anesthesia team)

Manage admissions from the ED and direct transfers

Collaborate with intensivists and consultants as needed

Ensure continuity of care and clear hand-offs to daytime teams

Participate in quality initiatives and uphold high standards of clinical care
Qualifications:

MD or DO with Board Eligibility or Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine (with hospitalist experience)

Physical Demands:
This physician/APP role requires stamina in fast-paced healthcare: prolonged standing/walking (8-12 hrs/shift); rapid emergency movement (sprints, crowds); lifting/carrying 25-50 lbs equipment; pushing/pulling 100 lbs (beds/carts) with aid; frequent bending/stooping/kneeling for care; constant reaching/fine motor skills (suturing/IVs); occasional climbing/balancing; tolerating stressors (temps, noise, fluids, hazards) during irregular shifts/on-call/infection risks—accommodations for disabilities; varies by setting (clinic/ER).
Job Responsibilities
Provide direct overnight management of patients in a 15-bed ICU, including responding to changes in condition, orders, and coordination of care
Perform comprehensive assessments, develop and adjust care plans, and ensure appropriate documentation in EPIC EMR
Collaborate closely with bedside Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to oversee patient management, delegate tasks, and provide guidance as needed
Respond to rapid response and code situations, stabilize patients, and initiate appropriate interventions
Communicate effectively with consulting specialists, nursing staff, and ancillary teams to maintain high-quality, patient-centered care
Participate in handoffs to the daytime team, ensuring clear and thorough transition of care
Maintain adherence to ICU protocols and hospital policies, participating in ongoing quality and performance improvement initiatives
Qualifications
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine (or Family Medicine with substantial inpatient hospitalist experience)
Eligible for and able to obtain an unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license
Current DEA registration
Proficiency or willingness to perform arterial line placement (training or prior experience preferred)
Comfortable managing acute care issues in a hospital setting; intubations not required as there is a dedicated airway team
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with intensivists, specialists, APPs, and nursing staff
Strong documentation and communication skills, with familiarity or experience using EPIC EMR a plus
