**Job Summary** A leading health system in the central region of North Carolina is seeking a dedicated and skilled Hospitalist to join their primary healthcare team. Physicians in this role will provide exceptional care by diagnosing and treating various illnesses and injuries, offering preventative healthcare advice, and collaborating with a team of professionals to improve patient outcomes. This position offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic, integrated clinical system committed to advancing medical care, education, and research. **Essential Functions** - Deliver primary medical care services within the standard of care for Internal Medicine patients. - Conduct physical examinations, review medical histories, and order diagnostic tests to develop treatment plans. - Prescribe medications and treatments, ensuring patient safety by reviewing allergy information and discussing potential side effects. - Collaborate with specialists for referrals and complex case consultations. - Provide guidance on lifestyle modifications to promote health and manage chronic conditions. - Maintain comprehensive, timely, and accurate patient records. - Adhere to departmental policies and quality improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and infection control standards. - Protect patient confidentiality in accordance with state and federal regulations. **Education and Experience Requirements** - Education: M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school. - Residency: Successful completion of an accredited residency program in a related field. **Licensure and Certification Requirements** - Current M.D. or D.O. license in North Carolina. - Board certification in primary care or a related specialty. - Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (if required by specialty). - Current DEA and DPS registration for prescription writing. **Skills and Qualifications** - Strong oral and written communication skills. - Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team. - Analytical skills to diagnose and solve medical problems efficiently. - Experience with primary care delivery, diagnostic services, and patient treatment planning. - Knowledge of electronic medical records and adherence to healthcare regulations. **Work Environment** - Typical clinical setting within an integrated healthcare system. - Regularly involves standing, walking, and using fine motor skills. - Occasionally involves lifting up to 20 lbs. **About Us** Join a leading academic health system in central North Carolina, part of a larger health network.
