Overview:
Portneuf Medical Center, a prominent community hospital in southeast Idaho, is seeking a dedicated Pediatric Hospitalist to join our established Pediatric Hospital Medicine service. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive inpatient pediatric care within a supportive regional referral hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert medical care to pediatric patients admitted to the hospital, including ongoing management and treatment planning.
- Consult on pediatric cases in the Emergency Department to support timely and accurate diagnosis and treatment.
- Manage surgical pediatric patients in collaboration with surgical teams.
- Conduct hospital rounds in coordination with the care team, with a schedule of 7 days on, 7 days off, enabling work-life balance.
- Participate in remote consultation for emergency cases from home during on-call periods.
- Contribute to the development and expansion of sedation and other pediatric care programs.
- Collaborate with a regional sister program located 30 minutes away at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for specialized consultations and shared initiatives.
- Engage in opportunities for academic involvement with the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine, including potential faculty appointments.
Hospital Profile:
- 205-bed community hospital with advanced facilities, including:
- Level II Trauma Center
- Regional referral status
- 2-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- 6-bed Pediatric Ward
- 16-bed Level III Neonatal ICU (NICU)
- Approximately 1,200 deliveries annually
- 14 mom-baby couplet care beds
Qualifications:
- Board Certified in Pediatrics
- Valid medical license for Idaho or eligible for licensing
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- J1 Visa candidates are encouraged to apply; US citizen and permanent resident candidates are preferred
- Experience in hospital-based pediatric care preferred but not mandatory; new graduates with strong clinical skills are welcome
