Position Overview:
We are seeking a Board Certified or Eligible OB Hospitalist to join our dedicated team at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance. This full-time role offers an opportunity to provide critical obstetric care within a collaborative, innovative environment. The hospitalist will be responsible for managing high-volume obstetric and gynecologic cases, including deliveries, triage, emergency consults, and high-risk pregnancy management alongside maternal-fetal medicine specialists.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Obstetric Care: Manage approximately 1,924 annual deliveries, including overseeing vaginal deliveries and Cesarean sections, with a current C-section rate of about 40%.
  • Triage & Emergency Response: Handle over 2,296 outpatient OB/GYN triage visits and 1,229 OBED consults annually, providing timely assessments and interventions.
  • Inpatient Duties: Conduct OB triages, admissions, and attend deliveries, including assisting during Cesarean sections and responding promptly to labor and delivery emergencies.
  • High-Risk Management: Collaborate with neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, and maternal-fetal medicine specialists to care for high-risk pregnancies.
  • Support of Neonatal and GYN Services: Work with a Level II NICU team and manage gynecologic emergencies, including GYN ER consults and inpatient care.
  • Coverage & Schedule: Full-time is typically composed of 7.5 shifts/month (24-hour call shifts). Candidates may also opt for a minimum of 5.5 full shifts/month while maintaining benefits.
  • Additional Duties: Provide care for unassigned patients, assist with private call coverage, and participate in surgical procedures as required.
Qualifications:
  • Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Current Texas medical license or eligibility for licensure.
  • Ability to start promptly upon license approval.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to quality patient care and community engagement.
