The Hospitalist provides medical care for patients and facilitates transition of care at discharge from the hospital by communicating a summary of the hospital course, discharge medications, pending diagnostic studies, and follow-up instructions to the primary care provider and pertinent consultants. As a Hospitalist you will:

• Be responsible for comprehensive patient care to assure that the health care needs of patients are being met, including attendance at Interdisciplinary or nursing rounds and daily communication with the team caring for the patient.
• Renders quality medical services according to qualifications as an internal medicine or family practice physician with appropriate referrals, follow-up and hospitalization.
• The Hospitalist supports hospital medical staff and other area physicians utilizing the Hospitalist service by overseeing the inpatient experience, including providing follow-up care for patients in the outpatient realm.
• Communicates health status and treatment plan to patient, family and hospital staff.
• The Hospitalist documents information completely for patient care and billing purposes, and assists in the review of work flow, office practices and objectives; and teaches medical students, residents and others in graduate health education programs.

St. Francis Interquest (SFI) Nocturnist Position in Colorado Springs, CO:

Program Details:

• Area Medical Director: Dr. Mark Gaynor
• Site Lead: Dr. Minal Shah
• 72 licensed beds (only 48 open at this time)
• The ‘The Hospital of the Future’ includes smart patient rooms, whole-hospital telehealth and real-time locating capabilities for equipment, patients, and caregivers
  • Specialty services currently include orthopedics, neurology, infectious diseases, and urology. This will expand over the next several months.
• Average Number of Encounters per physician per day: 12-15
• Average Number of Admissions per day: 3-5
• Average Number of Admissions per night: 2-4
• ICU: Open
• Procedures: None (ED Physician will assist with procedures)
• Codes/Rapids: Hospitalist will perform independently
• EMR: Epic
• Schedule is nontraditional worked out into smaller blocks – does not have to be 7 on/7 off
• Nocturnists work 12 shifts per month (7pm - 7am)
• Daily Staffing Model:
  • 1 Daytime Physician (7am – 7pm)
  • 1 Nocturnist (7pm – 7am)

• Doctorate of Medicine required
