Description:
  • Full Time, 12-13 weeks/year
  • 120/hour employed, 130/hour for a 1099 contractor.
  • The week the physician ison, they are 7 days, 24 hours per day.

Function:

  • The physician will ensure that the care provided to patients is coordinated, comprehensive and meets professional standards of practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Accepts patient referrals, and coordinates all aspects of care for hospital patients referred by medical staff members.
  • Provides professional medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of disease and injury to up to seventeen hospital inpatients.
  • Utilizes case management services in decision making.
  • Discussion of end of life preferences with patients, families and staff.
  • Consultation with specialists as needed and coordinates the care between the primary care and consulting physicians
  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in accordance with training and experience and scope of clinical privileges granted through medical staff membership
  • Timely and proactive discharge planning (discharge orders written by 1 100 whenever possible.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary discharge planning that minimizes need for patient's readmission
  • Function as a medical consultant to all areas of the hospital, including timely consultations to the Emergency Department, surgeons and other medical staff members upon request.
  • Provide on call coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, onsite or offsite by telephone; responding within time frames established by the medical staff or emergent, urgent and routine requests.
  • During hours of attendance at the hospital, respond to all "Code Blue" calls and be available to assist the Emergency Department physician with this and other emergencies. He/she will respond within times frames established by the medical staff for emergent, urgent and routine requests.
  • During the week of assigned hospitalist duties, the hospitalist will read all EKG's and perform scheduled stress testing.
  • Participate inQuality Improvement activities, including:
  • Participation in assigned medical staff meetings.
  • Provide leadership in development of protocols and other clinical effectiveness projects.
  • Participate with the nursing and case management teams in maintaining effective utilization and resources management, medical record appropriateness and appropriate discharge planning.
  • Participate in patient rounding, triage and disposition to expedite patient flow throughout the organization and assist with patient placement and census management efforts.
  • Participate in the resolution of patient and provider complaints and enhancement of patient and provider satisfaction as measured by periodic surveys.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships and communication with the Other physician members of the hospitalist practice, members of the medical, nursing and clinical staff and hospital leadership.
  • Hand off information to the next hospitalist in a clear manner consistent withpolicy.
  • Complete and maintain adequate and proper medical records with respect to all patients examined or treated in accordance with all legal, accreditation, regulatory and third party payor requirements.
  • Comply with all Medical Staff bylaws and policies, code of conduct, hospital policies, rules and regulations as currently exist or are hereinafter amended.

Qualifications:
