Hospice & Palliative Care Medical Director Opening in GA Located in Albany, GA About the Position A Hospice & Palliative Care Medical Director is sought to provide clinical leadership for both hospice and palliative care programs. This leadership role combines direct patient care, physician oversight, program development, and quality improvement while ensuring compassionate, patient-centered care for individuals with serious and life-limiting illnesses. -Full-time leadership position -Medical Director overseeing both Hospice and Palliative Care programs -Provide clinical oversight for physicians and nurse practitioners -Serve as physician representative on the Hospital Ethics Committee -Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary hospice and palliative care teams Practice Responsibilities -Provide medical direction and oversight for hospice and palliative care services -Certify and recertify hospice eligibility in accordance with Medicare regulations -Provide direct patient care, symptom management, and complex case consultations -Collaborate with referring physicians and interdisciplinary care teams -Support patients and families with goals-of-care discussions and end-of-life planning -Ensure evidence-based pain and symptom management -Attend monthly hospice and palliative care interdisciplinary team meetings -Perform peer review of physician and APP documentation and clinical protocols Leadership & Program Development -Lead quality improvement (QAPI) initiatives -Develop and maintain clinical policies, procedures, and best practices -Provide education and mentorship for physicians, APPs, and clinical staff -Lead strategic program growth initiatives, including outpatient palliative care expansion -Participate in hospital committees and medical staff meetings -Represent hospice and palliative care programs in community outreach and professional education Practice Highlights -Leadership role overseeing both hospice and palliative care service lines -Interdisciplinary team approach including physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and other clinical staff -Opportunity to influence program development and clinical excellence -Focus on quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and patient-centered care -Combination of clinical practice and administrative leadership Compensation & Benefits -Base $362,507 -Sign on $25,000 -Relocation $15,000 -CME $7,000 Qualifications -MD or DO -Active, unrestricted medical license -DEA registration -3-5 years of clinical experience in hospice, palliative care, gerontology, or primary care -Board Certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine preferred -Leadership or healthcare administrative experience preferred -Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and hospice regulatory requirements Ideal Candidate -Compassionate, patient-centered physician committed to serious illness and end-of-life care -Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills -Experience with pain and symptom management -Excellent organizational and conflict-resolution abilities -Committed to quality improvement, clinical excellence, and interdisciplinary collaboration Practice Environment -Combination of inpatient hospital, inpatient hospice unit, long-term care facility, and home-based patient care -On-call participation may be required -Opportunity to lead both hospice and palliative care programs while helping shape future program growth and strategic initiatives
