The work schedule follows a 24-hour, 7-on, 7-off shift pattern, providing a balanced work-life structure. Key responsibilities include managing inpatient consults with a census of 12-18 patients, responding promptly to calls and pages during designated hours, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional palliative care.

Required Skills:
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
- Valid medical license in Michigan or the ability to obtain one promptly
- Board certification or eligibility in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
- Proven experience in inpatient and outpatient palliative care settings
- Strong communication, clinical judgment, and patient management skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems, preferably Cerner
- Ability to handle urgent and complex cases with compassion and professionalism
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with home-based hospice care services
- Prior work in a rural or community hospital environment
- Bilingual abilities (English and Spanish or other languages)
- Familiarity with interdisciplinary team coordination
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Completion of a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience in palliative or hospice medicine
- Previous locum or temporary staffing experience is a plus
Other Requirements:
- Availability for intermittent dates throughout the year
- Participation in the 24-hour shift schedule starting on Tuesday at 8 AM through the following Tuesday at 8 AM
- Travel and licensure reimbursement where applicable
