Job Summary:

We are seeking a Palliative Care physician to provide inpatient and outpatient specialist palliative care services to patients with serious illness as part of the Westchester Medical Center Palliative Care Section. Under the supervision of the Palliative Medicine Section Chief, the physician will work with a multidisciplinary palliative care team including nurse practitioners, social worker, and chaplain in providing specialist level palliative care.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides inpatient and outpatient palliative care services to patients with serious illness at Westchester Medical Center
  • Assists with development of an ambulatory palliative medicine practice
  • Provides comprehensive assessment and management of pain and other symptoms in the setting of serious illness
  • Conducts advance care planning and goals of care discussions with patients and families.
  • Facilitates access to appropriate supportive care services
  • Teaches principles of palliative care to other hospital staff as part of hospital wide palliative care educational initiatives
  • Provides precepting and supervision of fellows, residents and medical students participating in palliative care clinical rotations
  • Participates in Palliative Medicine Section quality improvement projects and other initiatives

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited medical school (MD/DO)
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine with fellowship desired or at least 2 years’ experience in palliative care
  • Unrestricted NYS medical licensure, or the ability to obtain one
