**On-Call Medical Director, Hospice opening in Coupeville, Washington** - Located in Coupeville, WA - Seattle 55m **Position Details:** - Seeking an On-Call Medical Director, Hospice Physician - Mon-Sun; Per-Diem (On-Call), Variable shifts - The Hospice Physician will demonstrate the ability to support and further a patient-centered care culture and provide caring and dedicated leadership to the management team. - This individual is decisive, collaborative, open-minded, team-focused, and wholly in support of our vision and fully invested in the success of the staff and organization within our community. - Responsible for medical care of all patients on hospice service during the Medical Directors absence. - Consults with team regarding hospice eligibility and terminal diagnosis as needed. - Completes Certificate of Terminal Illness on all new patients within 5 calendar days of admission. - Reviews medications and determines hospice-covered medications with admission RN for all new patients. - Documents in EHR patients terminal, related and unrelated diagnoses and completes a full medication review within 7 days of hospice admission. - Provides clinical support and medication orders to hospice RN with 24-hour availability. - Provides timely refills of all necessary patient medications. - Completes death certificates within 24 hours of receipt. - Performs patient visits as needed. - Attends interdisciplinary team meetings during Medical Directors absence. - Provides consultation to inpatient or emergency department providers as needed for medication recommendations or other treatment when clinically appropriate. - Completes daily visits for hospice inpatients during the Medical Directors absence. - Ability to communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and other medical professionals. - Motivation to work in a fast-paced environment. - Ability to interpret clinical, genomic, and efficacy data. **Education** - Graduate of an accredited medical school; MD or DO. **Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:** - Current active unrestricted medical professional licensure in Washington State required. - Board Certified in any US or Canadian approved medical specialty and has or will be receiving additional continuing medical education in hospice and palliative care. - Active unrestricted WA State DEA license required. - BLS Required. - Has Hospice Medical Director Certification or will obtain this certification within one year of eligibility. **Benefit Information and Wage Transparency:** - Employees who work a 0.5 FTE or higher are categorized as, benefit eligible. - $1,000.00 per week of call coverage and $100.00/hr for direct patient care. **About the location:** Coupeville is one of Washington's oldest towns and the seat of Island County.
