Your Role With Us:

Salem Health Hospitals & Clinics is seeking a full-time Medical Director to oversee our established, hospital-based Palliative Care team, as well as provide services to our patients. Salem Health’s Palliative Care program has a collaborative interdisciplinary team, who have developed and fostered strong relationships and support throughout the organization. The team is comprised of four (4) physicians, three (3.0) FTE Social Workers, one (1) RN, support staff, with access to Chaplains and an Ethicist.

The Medical Director’s schedule will consist of four (4), 10-hour workdays, totaling 184 annual shifts (147 shifts are clinical and the remainder are admin.). Our Medical Directors work closely with a dedicated dyad business manager, and have additional dyad Clinical and Operations leadership support.

Background/Expertise:

  • Hold current, unrestricted MD/DO Oregon medical license.
  • Graduated from an approved school of medicine.
  • Achieved ABMS/AOA Board Certification a medical or surgical specialty; **AND**
  • American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (ABHPM) certification **OR**
  • Have completed a Palliative Medicine Fellowship **AND**
  • Demonstrate direct participation in the active care of at least 100 terminal or severely and chronically ill patients, including 25 hospital inpatients, for whom Palliative Medicine was a predominant goal of care, during the past 24 months.
  • Have at least three (3) to five (5) years of hospital experience in Palliative Care
  • Leadership experience preferred
