Locums - Red Bluff, California | Hematology/Oncology Opportunity
Clinical Role
Seeking a Hematology/Oncology physician for locums coverage in Red Bluff, California. This is an outpatient opportunity providing comprehensive Hematology/Oncology care with physician oversight of both the clinic and infusion services.
Schedule & Coverage
- Coverage Dates:
- November 5 and 18, 2026 – Clinic + night call
- December 26-27, 2026 – Weekend remote call
- December 30-31, 2026 – Clinic + night call
- Clinic Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 7:00 am-5:30 pm with night call
- Weekend Call: 24-hour remote call Friday-Sunday
- Call Type: Phone only; no ED call
- Call Volume: Approximately 5 calls per day
- Coverage Need: 1.0 FTE
Practice Setting & Patient Volume
- Outpatient Hematology/Oncology clinic and infusion center
- Patient Volume: Approximately 15-21 patients per day Monday-Thursday, shared between the physician and NP
- Approximately 75% of appointments are scheduled with the physician
- Physician functions as the primary physician provider with NP support
- No hospital consults or inpatient Oncology service required
- For patients requiring admission, the physician may coordinate directly with Emergency Medicine physicians or Hospitalists
Clinical Responsibilities
- Diagnosis and staging of Hematology/Oncology conditions
- Precision medicine
- Symptom management
- Development and management of treatment plans
- Physician oversight of Hematology/Oncology clinic and infusion services
- Physician must be on-site during infusion treatments
- Bone marrow biopsies are referred to outside providers
Infusion Services
- Chemotherapy
- Immunotherapy
- Blood and platelet transfusions
- Hormone therapy
- Antibiotic therapy
- Rheumatoid arthritis injections
- Therapeutic phlebotomy
Support & Systems
- Long-term NP providing weekday support and assisting with patient flow, orders, Friday infusions, and occasional Friday appointments
- Clinical support includes 1 clinic RN, 2 MAs, 3 infusion RNs, front-office staff, and quality/billing support
- EMR: iKnowMed for clinic and Cerner for infusion services
Requirements & Credentialing
- Board Certification in both Hematology and Oncology preferred
- Will consider Board Eligible candidates
- Candidates Board Certified in either Oncology or Hematology may be considered
- Medical Oncology fellowship required
- Active California license required
- California DEA required
- BLS and ACLS required
