Are you a Board Certified or Board Eligible Hematologist/Oncologist seeking a full-time, ongoing locum tenens commitment in eastern Indiana? A premier 220+ bed regional medical center and Level III Trauma Center in Richmond is seeking one single, dedicated physician to manage their outpatient hematology/oncology service line starting December 1, 2026. Offering a fixed 4-day clinical work week, predictable daily volumes, and a well-supported call model alongside Advanced Practice Providers, this opportunity provides long-term assignment stability.
The Opportunity
Step into an established cancer center program delivering advanced hematologic and oncologic care across a regional network.

Clinical Scope: Manage comprehensive outpatient oncology and hematology panels (approximate patient mix: 65% Oncology / 35% Hematology). Primary responsibilities include:

Evaluating new oncology consultations and managing established treatment plans

Managing benign and malignant hematology cases

Executing full electronic order entry independently

The Schedule: 4-day clinical schedule (Tuesday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with a dedicated 1-hour lunch break). Mondays are designated off or utilized as administrative time.

Commitment: Full-time requirement of 4 weeks per month. Multiple providers dividing or splitting the schedule will not be accepted.

Patient Volume: Work at a steady, manageable pace averaging 18 to 20 patients per day.

Regional Coverage: Primary outpatient duties are located at the main hospital campus in Richmond, IN, with predictable regional clinic travel:

Winchester, IN: Every Wednesday

Hagerstown, IN: 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month

Call Responsibilities: Shared call rotation featuring both primary coverage and backup support for on-duty APPs.

Call Type: Primarily phone-based triage (the APP contacts the physician if an in-person hospital evaluation is required)

Call Cadence: Some weeknight call (schedule TBD) and rotating weekend call (Friday 5:00 PM to Monday 7:00 AM)

Technology: Fully integrated Epic EMR across all main and regional practice locations.
Candidate Requirements
To align with facility credentialing guidelines, candidate submissions must satisfy the following criteria:

Board Status: Board Certified (BC) or Board Eligible (BE) in Hematology and Oncology (BE candidates must be within 5 years of residency completion).

Licensure: Active, unencumbered Indiana State Medical License or active IMLC eligibility.

Experience & Logs: Minimum of 2 years of post-residency experience; submission of recent clinical case logs is required.

Life Support: Active BLS certification required (ACLS required if requesting conscious sedation privileges).

Health Requirements: Documented Flu and COVID-19 vaccinations or approved medical/religious exemptions.

Logistical Readiness: Ability to commit to full 4-week monthly blocks and travel between assigned regional clinics.
