Locum Physician – Hematology & Oncology | Des Moines, IA | 95% Outpatient | Ongoing Coverage Through 2027

A rewarding locum opportunity is available for an experienced Hematology & Oncology Physician in Des Moines, IA. This position offers a predominantly outpatient practice with minimal inpatient responsibilities, supported by an established clinical team and the opportunity for ongoing assignments into 2027.

📍 Location: Des Moines & West Des Moines, IA
💼 Position Type: Locum Tenens
🏥 Setting: 95% Outpatient | 5% Inpatient
🗓️ Schedule: 4 days per week (Monday–Thursday or Monday–Friday)
🕗 Clinic Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
⏰ Patient Contact Hours: 6 hours/day
📞 Call: Required during scheduled work week (Night Call Mon–Fri + 24-hour weekend call before or after scheduled week)
🖥️ EMR: Epic

📅 Coverage Dates

Providers should be available for one or more of the following:

• September 22 – September 30

• October 21 – October 29

• November 16 – November 20

🩺 Practice Details

• Medical Hematology & Oncology coverage

• 95% outpatient clinic, 5% inpatient

• Inpatient responsibilities at both Des Moines and West Des Moines locations

• Patient assessments and treatment planning

• Chemotherapy management

• Hematology consultations

• Ongoing cancer treatment and therapy adjustments

• Pain management coordination

• End-of-life care

👥 Daily Clinic Volume: 10–30 patients

• Primary Facility: 10–15 patients

✅ Candidate Requirements

• Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible in Hematology & Oncology – Preferred

• Board Certified in Oncology with Hematology experience will also be considered

• Fellowship Trained in Hematology & Oncology

• Active Iowa License or Active IMLC

• Experienced physician required

• Must be willing to provide coverage at both Des Moines and West Des Moines locations

• Must specify available coverage dates at submission
