Seeking a Board Certified Hematology/Oncology physician to provide locum tenens coverage for a 3-month maternity leave beginning as soon as credentialed. This opportunity offers a predominantly outpatient practice with a 60% Hematology and 40% Oncology patient mix, supported by Radiation Oncology, APPs, and experienced oncology nursing staff. Providers will practice in a collaborative environment utilizing Epic EMR while caring for adult and geriatric patients with light inpatient responsibilities during call coverage. *LOCAL & CT LICENSE REQUIRED*
Job Responsibilities
Evaluate and manage adult and geriatric hematology and oncology patients
Participate in a shared 1:3 evening and weekend call rotation
Round on approximately 1–5 hospitalized patients during call coverage as needed
Order laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging
Prescribe medications and treatment plans
Participate in multidisciplinary Tumor Board meetings
Collaborate with Radiation Oncology, APPs, and oncology nursing staff to provide comprehensive patient care
Qualifications
Active Connecticut medical license at time of submission (No exceptions)
Current BLS certification
NPDB Self-Query completed within the month of submission
Local providers required (travel and lodging are not provided; mileage reimbursement only)
Experience with Epic EMR preferred
Working Hours
Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
Clinic Hours: 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
Shared 1:3 evening call rotation
Shared 1:3 weekend call rotation (Friday 4:00 PM–Monday 7:00 AM)
Average outpatient volume: 15–16 patients per day
Average inpatient rounding during call: 1–5 patients
