Job Description
We are seeking a Hematology/Oncology Physician for a locum tenens opportunity in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. This is a full-time, ongoing assignment providing a mix of outpatient clinic care and inpatient consult support.
Practice Details
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Coverage: Full-time (minimum 3 days/week accepted)
- Call: 1 week/month (includes nights and weekends)
- Setting: Outpatient clinic with inpatient consults
- EMR: EPIC
Job Responsibilities
Manage ~15 patients/day
Mix of Oncology (2/3) and Hematology (1/3) cases
Provide clinic care, hospital consults, and infusion management
Participate in tumor boards
Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams
Scope of Practice
Solid tumor oncology (lung, breast, colorectal, prostate, etc.)
Hematologic conditions and select blood cancers
Infusion therapies including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, IVIG, and IV iron
Limited inpatient involvement (consultative support)
Qualifications
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology/Oncology 🏅
Completion of Hematology/Oncology fellowship training
Active Pennsylvania medical license (or willingness to obtain) 🗽
DEA certification required 💊
Strong clinical experience in oncology and hematology care
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to manage both outpatient clinic and inpatient consults
Working Hours
Full-time coverage preferred (minimum 3 days/week considered)
On-call rotation: approximately 1 week per month (includes nights & weekends)
Mix of clinic hours with occasional inpatient consults before/after clinic
Skills
Ability to diagnose and manage solid tumors and hematologic disorders
Experience with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and infusion therapies
Proficiency in outpatient clinic management and inpatient consults
Familiarity with EPIC EMR systems 💻
Excellent clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and patient counseling abilities
Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
Time management skills to handle patient volume and consult workflow efficiently
