This locum tenens Oncology/Hematology physician position involves providing outpatient cancer care in a free-standing cancer center, with some inpatient responsibilities during call. The role is ongoing due to physician retirements/relocations and focuses primarily on oncology (solid tumor cases) with a smaller hematology component. The provider will work as part of a collaborative care team, managing patient treatment and participating in a shared call rotation.
Dates / Schedule
- Start: ASAP
- Duration: Ongoing, 4 weeks per month required
- Clinic Schedule: 4–5 days per week, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
- Administrative Time: Optional admin day or half-day
- Call Schedule:
- 7 days of call per rotation (includes one weekend)
- Call Ratio: 1:4
- Work Week: Sunday – Saturday
- Credentialing Timeframe: 6–8 weeks
Job Details / Responsibilities
- Provide outpatient oncology and hematology care (approx. 80% oncology, 20% hematology)
- Evaluate and treat solid tumor patients, ensuring timely access (within ~1 week of referral)
- See 10–15 patients per day in clinic
- Participate in call coverage, including inpatient consults and management when patients are admitted for chemotherapy
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including:
- 3 physicians
- 2 APPs
- Radiation oncologists (on-site)
- Practice in a free-standing cancer center using EPIC EMR
- Facility designation: Level III trauma center
- Complete required onboarding, including EPIC training (4 hours unpaid)
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Board Certified in both Hematology and Oncology (Required)
- Active Oregon medical license (Required; IMLC/Compact not accepted)
- DEA certification (Required)
- Clean background and malpractice history (Highly preferred)
- NPDB Self-Query report (within 30 days, required at submission)
- CAQH login credentials (required at time of offer)
- Must meet medical staff privileging criteria
- Experience managing oncology and hematology patients in an outpatient setting
