Job Description โ Hematology/Oncology Physician (Locum, Chambersburg/Waynesboro, PA)
โข Provide comprehensive adult hematology and oncology care in both clinic and inpatient settings ๐ฉบ
โข Manage an average of 15 patients per day, including new consults and follow-up treatment visits ๐ฅ
โข Evaluate, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for cancers (lung, breast, prostate, colorectal) and selected hematologic conditions
โข Administer and oversee infusions, immunotherapy, IVIG, IV iron, and other injections ๐
โข Coordinate care with infusion nurses, radiation oncology navigators, and multidisciplinary teams ๐ค
โข Participate in tumor board meetings and support clinical decision-making ๐งฌ
โข Respond to on-call responsibilities, including weekend and night coverage, approximately 1 week per month ๐
โข Document all patient encounters accurately using EMR systems
โข Collaborate with other providers to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care
โข Support outpatient clinic workflow while providing guidance and consultation for inpatient and emergency cases
โข Contribute to a team-based, academic-focused, and patient-oriented practice environment โจ
Job Responsibilities
โข Conduct comprehensive adult patient evaluations, including new consults and follow-up visits ๐ฉบ
โข Diagnose and manage a variety of cancers (lung, breast, prostate, colorectal) and selected hematologic conditions
โข Develop individualized treatment plans, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, IVIG, IV iron, and other injections ๐
โข Coordinate patient care with infusion nurses, radiation oncology navigators, and multidisciplinary teams ๐ค
โข Participate in tumor board meetings and contribute to clinical decision-making ๐งฌ
โข Provide inpatient and emergency consultation support as needed, including on-call coverage (weekends and nights) ๐
โข Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters using EMR systems
โข Supervise and support other providers as needed within the clinic and hospital settings
โข Maintain adherence to clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements โ
โข Promote a collaborative, patient-centered, and academically oriented practice environment โจ
Qualifications
โข Board Certified in Hematology and/or Oncology (double-boarded preferred) โ
โข Willingness to obtain Pennsylvania medical license (IMLC considered) ๐
โข Experience managing adult patients in outpatient and inpatient oncology/hematology settings
โข Proficient in chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and infusion protocols ๐
โข Strong clinical decision-making, diagnostic, and patient management skills ๐ฉบ
โข Excellent communication and collaborative team skills ๐ค
โข Ability to participate in tumor boards and multidisciplinary discussions ๐งฌ
โข Flexible and adaptable to a full-time locum schedule with on-call responsibilities
Working Hours
โข On-Call: 1 week per month, including nights and weekends ๐๐
โข Typical Day: Clinic visits with 20โ60 minute consults, inpatient/ER consultation support as needed
โข Patient Load: Average 15 adult patients per day ๐ฅ
โข Flexibility to manage urgent patient needs during clinic hours ๐
