Job description
Join a highly respected, accredited oncology program offering a predominantly outpatient practice with strong multidisciplinary support. This is an excellent opportunity for a Hem/Onc physician seeking consistent scheduling, low call volume, and a collaborative team environment.
Start Date: ASAP (targeting April coverage) Ongoing Need Schedule: 2 consecutive weeks per month preferred
Position Highlights:

95% outpatient focus with minimal inpatient responsibilities

Low-volume, phone-based call
-
Excellent support staff and oncology infrastructure
-
Accredited, well-established cancer program
-
Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
-
Occasional night and weekend call (very light)
-
Call ratio: ~1:2 (phone-based, minimal volume)
-
Call response time: 15 minutes
-
Patient volume: 10–15 patients per day
-
Case mix: Medical oncology and hematology
Practice Breakdown:
-
~95–99% outpatient
-
Inpatient consults only (handled primarily by APPs)
-
No inductions performed at the facility
Responsibilities Include:
-
New patient consults (60 minutes)
-
Follow-ups (30 minutes)
-
Ordering and interpreting diagnostics
-
Collaborating with hospitalists for inpatient consults
-
4-provider group (1 physician, 3 APPs)
-
Extensive support staff including:
-
13 RNs, nurse navigators, pharmacists, lab staff
-
Genetic counselor onsite
-
Dedicated research associate
-
Tumor registry and weekly tumor board
-

Strong primary care referral base
Accreditations:
-
Commission on Cancer (CoC)
-
National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC)
-
ACR Radiation Oncology Practice Accreditation
Technology:

EMR: Athena / Cerner
-
Board Certified in Hematology/Oncology
-
Active Michigan license required
-
Fellowship preferred
-
BLS certification required
