ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a Locum Tenens Medical Oncologist/Hematologist to provide outpatient cancer care at a free-standing cancer center. The provider will function as part of the clinical patient care team, delivering oncology and hematology services consistent with their training and licensure. This role supports the practice during a transition caused by physician retirement and relocation.

Dates / Schedule

  • Coverage Start: ASAP

  • Duration: Ongoing

  • Workload: 4 weeks per month (required)

  • Clinic Schedule: 4–5 days per week, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

  • Administrative Time: Admin day or half-day available if needed

  • Call Schedule: 1:4 rotation

  • Call Coverage: 7 days of call including one weekend

Job Details / Responsibilities

  • Provide medical oncology and hematology care in an outpatient setting at a free-standing cancer center.

  • Serve as a member of the clinical patient care team, performing procedures and tasks appropriate for a board-certified oncologist/hematologist.

  • Focus primarily on solid tumor oncology (approx. 80%), with hematology cases around 20%; many benign hematology cases are referred out.

  • Evaluate and treat new oncology referrals, with the goal of seeing new solid tumor diagnoses within one week of referral.

  • Manage 10–15 outpatient visits per day on average.

  • Participate in inpatient care only when patients are admitted for inpatient chemotherapy.

  • Collaborate with radiation oncologists and two Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) currently supporting the practice.

  • Work within a team of three physicians in a Level III trauma center environment.

  • Document patient care using the EPIC EMR system.

Additional Details

  • Estimated credentialing timeframe: 6–8 weeks

  • Work week runs Sunday–Saturday

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Board Certified in both Hematology and Oncology (required)

  • Active Oregon medical license (required) — IMLC or Compact licenses not accepted

  • DEA certification (verbal confirmation required at name clear)

  • CAQH login and password required at time of offer

  • Self-Query NPDB report (within the past month) required at presentation

  • Eligible for Medical Staff or Allied Health Professional membership and privileges

  • Clean background and no malpractice history (highly preferred)
