Join us as an Internal Medicine Physician (Oncology or Hematology) at the Raymond G. Murphy Medical Center located in Albuquerque, NM. Part of the New Mexico VA Health Care System. W-2 and 1099 employment options available.

Period of Performance: 5 years total (3/31/2026-3/30/2031). Renewal options after each 12-month period.

Job Responsibilities

• Serve as the attending for inpatient, outpatient, and consultation services.
• Evaluate complete history and physical examinations.
• Order relevant laboratory studies.
• Supervise and assist midlevel providers and ancillary health personnel.
• Acquire material from all orifices from venous blood, fluid collection, and localized abscesses.
• Perform arterial puncture and bone marrow biopsies.
• Perform peer reviews as requested.
• Provide services in the following patient care areas: Outpatient Hematology/Oncology Clinic and Continuous Infusion Unit, inpatient consults, ER, ICU, Telemetry, General Medicine Ward, and General Surgical Ward.
• Educate and supervise health profession trainees:
• Create an academic environment conducive to training and professional development of HPTs.
• Meet educational objectives of the training program as outlined in the agreement.
• Supervise Physician, Dental, Optometry, Chiropractic, and Podiatry Residents.
• Oversee HPT acquisition and provide periodic evaluation.

Qualifications

• Education. Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
• Board Certification. Must be board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in Oncology OR Hematology.
• Licensure. Must have current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States or District of Columbia. BLS equivalent required.
• Subject to background/security investigation.
• Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
• Willingness to comply with Department of Veterans Affairs vaccination programs for seasonal influenza and COVID-19.
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Working Hours

Schedule: Full-time, on-site coverage Mon-Fri 8A-4:30P. On-call coverage 4:30P-8A. All weekends and federal holidays require 24-hr on-call coverage.
