JOB OVERVIEW
  • Job Title: Hematology/Oncology Physician
  • Job Type: Locum Tenens
  • Location: Cooperstown, NY
  • Service Setting: Outpatient
  • Coverage Type: Clinical Only
  • Coverage Period: Apr 6, 2026 Ongoing (until full-time hire)
  • Clinical Shift Schedule: Approximately 40 hours per week (flexible schedule) COVERAGE DATES
  • Apr 6, 2026 Ongoing

PATIENT INFORMATION
  • Patient Demographics: Adults
  • Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 12 15 patients per day
  • Case Mix: Approximately 80% Oncology and 20% Hematology including benign and malignant hematologic conditions

FACILITY INFORMATION
  • EMR System: Epic
  • Office Equipment Available: Standard outpatient oncology clinic equipment
  • Specialty Backup Available: Interventional Radiology available for bone marrow procedures
  • Support Staff Available: 1 MD paired with 1 NP onsite; additional nursing support available

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE
  • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes
  • Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 120 days

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES
  • Hematology and oncology patient evaluations and management
  • Management of benign and malignant hematologic disorders
  • Bone marrow procedures preferred but not required

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Licenses: Active NY medical license
  • Board: Board Certified in Hematology, Oncology, or Hematology/Oncology
  • DEA: Active DEA Certification
  • Certifications: BLS
  • Experience: Hematology and Oncology clinical experience required
  • Other Qualifications: Immunization record required; flu vaccine or declination required; negative TB or QuantiFERON Gold test within one year of start

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide outpatient hematology and oncology care for scheduled clinic patients
  • Diagnose and manage hematologic and oncologic conditions
  • Collaborate with nurse practitioners and nursing staff to coordinate patient care
  • Document patient encounters and treatment plans within the Epic EMR
  • Participate in multidisciplinary care planning as needed
