We are seeking a Board Certified Hematologist/Oncologist for a specialized coverage block in Illinois. This role supports a small community clinic and infusion center, focusing on new patient referrals and inpatient consultations.
Assignment Timeline
- Start Date: March 21, 2026
- End Date: April 5, 2026
- Credentialing: 60–90 Days (Immediate submission required for future consistency)
Schedule & Patient Volume
- Clinic Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
- Clinic Volume: Light template of 8–10 patients per day.
- Call Coverage: * Weeknights: 4:00 PM – 8:00 AM.
- Weekends: 24-hour In-house call.
- Call Volume: Very manageable; average of 1–2 patients per day on weekends.
Clinical Scope & Setting
- Inpatient Duties: The Hospitalist service handles all admissions. The locum acts as the consultant, seeing patients inpatient and initiating transfers only if high-level specialized care is required.
- Case Mix: New Oncology/Hematology referrals, including Acute Leukemia and Malignant Hematology.
- Procedures: No BMT or BMB required.
- Support: Close collaboration with the Infusion Center Charge Nurse for lab and treatment oversight.
- EMR: Epic
Requirements
- Certification: Board Certified (BC) in Hematology and/or Oncology.
- Licensure: Active Illinois (IL) State Medical License.
- Life Support: Active BLS certification.
