🩺 Locum Hematologist / Oncologist – Des Moines, Iowa

We are seeking a Locum Hematology & Oncology Physician for an excellent opportunity in Des Moines, Iowa. This role offers a balanced schedule, strong clinical support, and the opportunity to provide both inpatient and outpatient care within a well-established oncology program.

🏥 Position Overview

• Specialty: Hematology / Oncology

• Position Type: Locum Tenens

• Schedule: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off with call

• Clinic Days: 4–5 days per week

• Clinic Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

• Patient Contact Hours: ~6 per day

• Practice Setting: Inpatient + Outpatient

• Telehealth: Possible in addition to inpatient responsibilities

👩‍⚕️ Practice Details

• Clinic patient volume: 10–30 patients per day

• Average hospital census: 10–15 patients

• Appointment length:

  • New consults: 40 minutes

  • Follow-ups: 20 minutes

• Nursing Support: 1:1 support

• No APP supervision required

• EMR: Epic

• Medical imaging, lab, and pharmacy services available

• Patient assessments

• Development and management of treatment plans

• Referrals for ancillary services

• Pain management coordination

• End-of-life care support

📞 Call Schedule

• Call required (exact schedule to be confirmed)

✅ Requirements

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology & Oncology

• Fellowship trained in Hematology/Oncology

• Active Iowa license or IMLC

• Clean malpractice and background history

• Must be comfortable covering multiple locations within the system
