A hospital-based oncology program in Des Moines, Iowa is seeking a Locum Hematologist Oncologist for a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation with call coverage. The provider will deliver both inpatient and outpatient medical hematology/oncology services across two hospital sites.
This role includes clinic coverage, inpatient rounding, and potential telehealth services. The practice offers strong nursing support (1:1 ratio) and a collaborative oncology care environment.
Job Responsibilities
• Inpatient coverage at two hospital sites
• Manage new consults and follow-ups
• Develop and adjust chemotherapy treatment plans
• Ongoing oncology treatment management
• End-of-life care planning
• Pain management coordination
• Referral for ancillary services
• Telehealth visits as needed
Qualifications
• Fellowship Trained in Hematology & Oncology (REQUIRED)
• Active Iowa License or Active IMLC (REQUIRED)
• Experienced provider (REQUIRED)
• Must be willing to work at both hospital locations
• Clean Malpractice & Background History
• Self-Query NPDB (within 30 days)
Working Hours
• Clinic Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Patient Contact Hours: 6 per day
• On Call: Yes (Schedule TBD)
• No OR/Procedure Days
