We are seeking an experienced Locum Hematology Oncology Physician for a hospital-based practice in Des Moines, IA. This role offers a balanced 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off schedule with a mix of outpatient clinic and inpatient coverage. It’s an excellent opportunity for physicians looking for flexible locum work with strong clinical support and steady patient volumes.
Job Responsibilities
• Provide medical hematology and oncology care in clinic and inpatient settings
• Conduct patient assessments and develop new and ongoing treatment plans
• Manage chemotherapy, symptom control, and end-of-life care
• Order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic studies
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams
• Document patient care using EPIC EMR
Qualifications
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology & Oncology
• Fellowship trained in Hematology & Oncology
• Active Iowa medical license or IMLC eligibility
• Experienced provider with strong clinical background
• Clean malpractice and recent NPDB Self-Query
Working Hours
• 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off
• Clinic hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Call required (schedule TBD)
• Combination of clinic, inpatient, and possible telehealth coverage
Skills
• Strong clinical judgment in hematology and oncology
• Experience managing inpatient and outpatient populations
• Excellent communication and care coordination skills
• Comfort with moderate to high patient volumes
• Team-oriented and adaptable
