We are seeking an experienced Locum-to-Perm Hematology Oncology Physician for a dynamic practice in Des Moines, IA. This opportunity offers an excellent work–life balance with a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off schedule, strong inpatient and outpatient exposure, and the potential to transition into a permanent role.
Job Responsibilities
• Provide medical hematology and oncology care in clinic and inpatient settings
• Conduct patient assessments and develop new and ongoing treatment plans
• Manage chemotherapy, symptom control, and end-of-life care
• Order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic studies
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams
• Document patient care using EPIC EMR
Qualifications
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology & Oncology
• Fellowship trained in Hematology & Oncology
• Active Iowa medical license or IMLC eligibility
• Proven experience in hematology/oncology practice
• Clean malpractice and NPDB Self-Query (recent)
Working Hours
• 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off
• Clinic hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Call responsibilities included (schedule TBD)
• Combination of clinic, inpatient, and possible telehealth coverage
Skills
• Strong clinical judgment in oncology and hematology care
• Experience managing inpatient and outpatient populations
• Excellent communication and care coordination skills
• Comfort with moderate to high patient volumes
• Team-oriented and adaptable
