A community-based hospital in southern Vermont is seeking a part-time, Board Certified or Board Eligible Medical Oncologist to join a thriving outpatient oncology clinic. This position offers a flexible schedule ideal for physicians seeking part-time work, long-distance commuting options, or dual employment arrangements.

The role focuses primarily on outpatient cancer care with occasional inpatient consultations, emphasizing compassionate, patient-centered, evidence-based treatment. Physicians will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a supportive culture centered on quality and teamwork.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient oncology care for approximately 14–16 patients per clinic day
• Conduct occasional inpatient consultations as needed
• Diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of cancer conditions
• Develop and implement personalized, evidence-based treatment plans
• Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis
• Collaborate with radiologists, surgeons, nursing staff, and support teams
• Participate in shared on-call schedule and weekend rotation (negotiable)
• Utilize Cerner Community Works EMR for documentation
• Maintain continued education and stay current with oncology advancements

Qualifications

• MD or DO
• Board Certified in Medical Oncology (ABIM) or Board Eligible
• Active Vermont medical license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• BLS and DEA (prior to start)
• Clean malpractice history
• Willingness to participate in shared call schedule
• Open to commuting candidates (greater than 1 hour travel acceptable)

Working Hours

• Part-time position
• Primarily outpatient clinic-based
• Shared on-call schedule (negotiable)
• Weekend rotation participation

Skills

• Comprehensive oncology diagnostic and treatment expertise
• Strong patient-centered communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

• EMR proficiency (Cerner preferred)
