Job description
ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a locum tenens Hematologist Oncologist to provide inpatient and clinic coverage. This position includes medical hematology/oncology services with a mix of inpatient care, outpatient clinic visits, and potential telehealth. The provider will work independently with dedicated nursing support and no APP supervision responsibilities.
Dates / Schedule

Rotation: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off

Clinic Coverage: 4–5 days per week

Clinic Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Patient Contact Hours: 6 hours per day

Clinic Days per Rotation: 8

Call: Yes (schedule TBD)

24-hour and night call responsibilities apply
Job Details & Responsibilities

Provide inpatient hematology/oncology coverage at both facilities
-
Conduct outpatient clinic visits (10–30 patients per day)

Average daily hospital census: 10–15 patients

Appointment times:

Consults: 40 minutes
-
Follow-ups: 20 minutes

Patient population includes Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial patients

Services include:

Patient assessments
-
Development and management of new and ongoing treatment plans

Therapy adjustments
-
Chemotherapy management
-
Pain management
-
End-of-life care
-
Referral for ancillary services
-
-
Radiation and surgical oncology managed by existing providers

Telehealth services may be included
-
1:1 nursing support
-
No APP supervision required
-
EMR: Epic
-
Onsite lab, pharmacy, and medical imaging available
Required Skills & Qualifications
-
Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible in Hematology & Oncology

Fellowship trained in Hematology & Oncology
-
Active Iowa license or Active IMLC (LOQ required at submission)

Experienced provider required
-
Clean malpractice and background history (Self-Query NPDB required within 30 days)
