Practice Overview:
We are seeking a Locum Hematologist Oncologist to join their well-established team. The practice provides comprehensive hematology and oncology care with strong support from nursing and ancillary staff.
Responsibilities:
Outpatient consults and follow-up care
Oversee administration of antineoplastics in the clinic
Inpatient responsibilities: Minimal; hospitalists admit patients and primarily consult via phone
Services include: Antineoplastics, phlebotomies, IV IgG, iron therapy, bone marrow biopsies
Daily patient volume: 16–20 in clinic, 0–2 inpatient
Appointment length flexible: 15–20 min follow-ups, 60 min consults
EMR: EPIC
Teaching opportunities available
Schedule:
Mon–Thurs (most likely)
16 shifts per month, 8 hours per shift
Clinic hours: 08:00–16:30
On call: Potentially one week and one weekend per month (phone calls only)
Support Staff:
2 nurses per provider, plus referral and triage nurses
Additional support: Reception, lab, social worker, referrals, dietician
4 exam rooms
Lab, pharmacy, and medical imaging available on site
Patient Demographics:
Adults, age 18 and older
Requirements:
Board Certified in Hematology & Oncology
Fellowship trained in Hematology & Oncology
Active Iowa medical license or IMLC
Full-time availability (Mon–Thurs)
Ability to perform minor urgent procedures (MUA)
Experienced candidates highly preferred, but new graduates will be considered
