Des Moines & West Des Moines, Iowa is seeking a Fellowship-Trained Hematologist Oncologist for a locum-to-permanent opportunity .
🗓 Schedule Overview
- 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off
- Clinic + inpatient coverage
- Call required (schedule TBD)
- Outreach potential: ~6 days per month in Newton, IA
- Telehealth may be included in addition to inpatient responsibilities
🏥 Practice Details
- Coverage at two locations (Des Moines & West Des Moines)
- 4–5 clinic days per week
- Clinic hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Patient contact hours: 6 per day
- No procedure/OR days
- Nursing support: 1:1
- EMR: EPIC
📊 Patient Volume
- Clinic volume: 10–30 patients per day
- Average inpatient census: 10–15
- Consults: 40 minutes
- Follow-ups: 20 minutes
🩺 Scope of Practice
- New patient assessments
- Development of treatment plans
- Ongoing chemotherapy management
- Adjustments to therapy
- Pain management coordination
- Referral for ancillary services
- End-of-life care management
(Radiation and surgical oncology services supported by established specialists.)
✅ Requirements
✔ Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible in Hematology & Oncology
✔ Fellowship Trained in Hematology & Oncology
✔ Active Iowa License or Active IMLC
✔ Must be experienced
✔ Recent NPDB Self-Query (within 30 days)
