Locums to Perm Hematologist / Oncologist
Location: Des Moines, Iowa (Multiple Sites)
Licensure: Iowa License or IMLC Accepted
Position Overview
- Specialty: Hematology / Oncology

- Coverage Need: Ongoing
- Work Sites: Must be willing to work at two locations

- Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible in Hematology and Oncology
- Active Iowa medical license OR Active IMLC
- LOQ must be uploaded at time of name clear
- Fellowship trained in Hematology & Oncology
- Experienced provider required
- Work Schedule: 4–5 days per week
- Clinic Days: 8 per month
- Clinic Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Patient Contact Hours: 6 hours/day
- Procedure / OR Days: None
- Call: Yes (schedule TBD as soon as possible)
- Inpatient Coverage: Yes, at both locations
- Outreach:
- Newton, Iowa approximately 6 days per month
- Telehealth: Yes
- Scope of Practice:
- Medical Hematology and Oncology care
- New patient assessments
- Treatment planning and ongoing therapy management
- Therapy changes and referrals for ancillary services
- Chemotherapy management
- End-of-life care
- Pain management (radiation and surgical oncology handled by existing providers)
- Number of Physicians: 1
- Advanced Practice Providers: 0
- APP Supervision Required: No
- Nursing Support: 1:1
- Medical Imaging: Onsite
- Laboratory & Pharmacy: Onsite
- Clinic Volume: 10–30 patients per day
- Average Inpatient Census: 10–15
- Appointment Lengths:
- New Consults: 40 minutes
- Follow-Ups: 20 minutes

- Primary Clinic: Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial
- Secondary Clinic: Medicare, Commercial
