We are actively seeking a Board-Certified Hematology Oncology Physician for a locum tenens oncology opportunity in Richmond, Virginia. This role provides a blend of inpatient-focused oncology care with limited outpatient coverage, supporting continuity of care during provider transitions.

The position is ideal for oncologists who are comfortable managing adult hematology and oncology patients, overseeing advanced practice providers, and contributing to clinical research initiatives. This opportunity offers a structured weekday schedule, a manageable patient census, and a collaborative clinical environment supported by experienced oncology staff.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive hematology and medical oncology care to adult patients
• Manage inpatient oncology consults and rounding responsibilities
• Provide limited outpatient oncology coverage as needed
• Supervise and collaborate with nurse practitioners and clinical staff
• Participate in call coverage per rotation requirements
• Enroll and manage eligible patients in oncology research studies
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging
• Prescribe and manage oncology and hematology treatment plans
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation within the EMR
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams and hospital services

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Hematology Oncology
• Active Virginia medical license
• BLS certification
• Clean professional background suitable for expedited credentialing
• Recent NPDB self-query report (within required timeframe)
• Experience in inpatient oncology strongly preferred
• Comfort with APP oversight and collaborative care models
• Strong clinical judgment and communication skills

Working Hours

• Monday through Friday
• Day shifts
• Typical hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Call coverage required
