Locum Hematologist Oncologist Needs in Iowa!

ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking an experienced locums Hematologist Oncologist to provide both inpatient and outpatient coverage. This role includes clinic-based care, inpatient responsibilities across both sites, limited outreach, and telehealth services. The position is ideal for a fellowship-trained physician comfortable managing comprehensive medical oncology and hematology care.

Dates / Scheduling

• Coverage type: Locums

• Clinic schedule: 4–5 days per week

• Clinic days: 8 days per scheduling block

• Clinic hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

• Patient contact hours: 6 per day

• On-call coverage: Yes (exact schedule TBD)

• Outreach: Potential travel to Newton, IA (~6 days per month)

  • Physicians: 1

  • APPs: 0 (no supervision required)

• Nursing support: 1:1

• Average clinic volume: 10–30 patients per day

• Average inpatient census: 10–15 patients

• Appointment times:

  • New consults: 40 minutes

  • Follow-ups: 20 minutes

• EMR: EPIC

• Diagnostic and treatment support:

  • Medical imaging, lab, and pharmacy services available

• Patient population:

  • Primary clinic: Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial

  • Secondary clinics: Medicare and Commercial

• Services provided include:

  • Patient assessments

  • New and ongoing treatment planning

  • Therapy modifications

  • Chemotherapy management

  • Pain management

  • End-of-life care

  • Referrals for ancillary services
    (Radiation and surgical oncology managed by established partner providers)

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible in Hematology & Oncology – Required

• Fellowship trained in Hematology & Oncology – Required

• Active Iowa medical license or IMLC (LOQ required at name clear) – Required

• Experienced provider – Required
