Hematology/Oncology Physician

Join our dedicated team as a Hematology/Oncology Physician and play a vital role in delivering exceptional outpatient cancer care in a reputable hospital setting. This position offers a dynamic and rewarding environment, providing comprehensive support to patients aged 18 and above, with opportunities to collaborate with a talented multidisciplinary team including nurse practitioners, nurses, and ancillary specialists. Required Skills:
  • Board Certification in Hematology, Oncology, or pending certification exam
  • Valid Virginia State Medical License
  • DEA certification
  • BLS certification
  • Minimum of 1 year clinical experience in Hematology/Oncology
  • Proficiency with EPIC Beacon EMR System
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle a patient volume of approximately 12-15 patients per day in an outpatient setting
  • Flexibility to work Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with additional Friday clinics every third week
  • Availability for scheduled call duties, including night and 24-hour weekend call duties

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience working in a hospital outpatient department
  • Familiarity with radiation oncology infusion treatments
  • Additional certifications or training in palliative care, pain management, or related areas
  • Bilingual abilities or multilingual proficiency

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
  • Board certification or eligibility in Hematology or Oncology
  • At least 1 year of post-residency clinical experience in relevant specialty

Other Requirements:
  • Virginia medical license and DEA registration (process can vary; expedite preferred)
  • BLS certification mandatory; ACLS preferred
  • Flu vaccination required
  • Willingness to participate in credentialing process, approximately 60-90 days
  • Ability to travel as all authorized travel expenses are billable (airfare, hotel, rental car, mileage, etc.)
  • No licensure through IMLC accepted
  • No licensing required beyond Virginia
