Exciting Opportunity for Hematology-Oncology Physicians – Locum Position in Pontiac, MI

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Locum - Physician specializing in Hematology-Oncology to provide vital outpatient services on a temporary basis. This role offers a unique chance to deliver high-quality patient care while supporting a leading oncology and hematology practice during a recruitment gap. What You Will Do:
  • Provide outpatient hematology and oncology care, managing 15-20 patients daily in a well-established outpatient clinic.
  • Participate in tumor board discussions and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including Oncology RNs, Medical Assistants, Social Workers, Dietitians, and Nurse Navigators.
  • Cover clinic operations and join on-call duties as needed, ensuring seamless patient care.
  • Utilize Cerner EMR system for documentation and care management.
  • Contribute to clinic support activities, including infusion services and onsite lab work.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • State medical license with eligibility for MI medical practice.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Hematology and Oncology.
  • Experience in outpatient hematology and oncology care.
  • Strong clinical skills with a focus on tumor board participation.
  • Excellent communication and patient management skills.
  • Ability to efficiently utilize EMR systems, preferably Cerner.

Nice to Have Skills:
  • prior experience working within oncology infusion centers.
  • familiarity with tumor board procedures.
  • proficiency in managing complex outpatient cases.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • At least 2 years of outpatient Hematology and Oncology experience.
  • Prior locum or temporary assignment experience is a plus.

Other Requirements:
  • Coverage dates: January 19, 2026, through July 31, 2026.
  • Must be able to work Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • On-call duties required for clinic patients.
  • Must hold appropriate licensure and certifications for practice in Michigan.
  • Travel and lodging reimbursements up to a $150 cap (including taxes) when applicable. Lodging arrangements cannot be made through third-party booking sites.
  • Orientation pay is half the hourly rate.
  • Hourly rate to be confirmed; malpractice coverage included in the pay package.
