Position Overview
One of our Partners, in Virginia is seeking a Board-Certified Hematology/Oncology Physician to provide clinic-only locum tenens coverage beginning March 2026. This is a weekday outpatient oncology role with no call, strong APP and nursing support, and a manageable daily patient volume. Provider compensation ranks in the Top 10% nationally for outpatient Hematology/Oncology locum tenens roles based on 2025 market data.
Assignment Highlights

Outpatient oncology clinic coverage only

No call responsibilities

Flexible weekday schedule: 4–5 days per week

Typical clinic hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (last patient scheduled at 3:40 PM)

8–10 hour workdays depending on clinic flow

Average daily patient volume: 13–15 patients

Strong multidisciplinary support team

Emergency privileges requested to expedite start

Job Responsibilities

Provide outpatient Hematology and Medical Oncology care

Manage solid tumor and malignant hematology patients

Evaluate and treat common benign hematology conditions (e.g., iron deficiency anemia)

Collaborate with APPs, infusion nurses, pharmacists, and support staff

Coordinate care plans, follow-ups, and treatment regimens

Document patient encounters in Epic / Beacon
Skills & Experience
-
Board Certified in Hematology/Oncology
-
Minimum 2 years of post-training experience

Comfortable managing outpatient oncology and hematology independently

Experience with Epic EMR required

Bone marrow transplants referred to tertiary centers
-
No bone marrow biopsies required in clinic
