Job description
A well-established and growing Regional Cancer Center is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Hematology/Oncology Physician to join a collaborative, fellowship-trained team serving a large multi-county referral area. This role offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive hematology and oncology care in a centralized cancer center equipped with advanced treatment technologies, including onsite radiation therapy and infusion services.
The physician will practice both inpatient and outpatient medicine, working alongside experienced oncology colleagues with shared call responsibilities. The practice is supported by dedicated oncology nursing staff, specialized cancer rehabilitation services, and strong academic affiliations. Job Responsibilities
Diagnose and manage patients with malignant and non-malignant hematologic and oncologic conditions.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including chemotherapy and supportive care.
Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary cancer care team, including radiation oncology, nursing, and rehabilitation services.
Participate in shared on-call coverage to support inpatient oncology services.
Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and treatment technologies available within the cancer center.
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, and ongoing care plans.
Adhere to all clinical quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and support the continued growth of the oncology program.
Qualifications
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology/Oncology
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Hematology/Oncology fellowship
Eligible for Alabama medical licensure
Strong clinical skills in the diagnosis and treatment of hematologic and oncologic conditions
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary cancer care team
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care
Willingness to participate in shared inpatient and outpatient responsibilities
Skills
Proficiency in diagnosing and managing complex oncologic and hematologic conditions
