Job description
This locum Hematology/Oncology position provides full-time clinic and infusion center coverage for a busy outpatient cancer program in California. The physician will oversee diagnosis, staging, treatment planning, symptom management, and infusion services while collaborating closely with established support staff and an experienced NP. The role includes weekday clinic hours, night call, and 24-hour weekend call, with compensation structured across multiple rate categories.

Job Details & Responsibilities

Primary Duties:
-
Full-spectrum Hematology/Oncology care: diagnosis, staging, precision oncology, symptom management, treatment planning

Supervision of clinic + infusion center

Must be onsite for all infusion services

Infusion center therapies include: chemotherapy, immunotherapy, transfusions, hormone therapy, antibiotics, RA injections, and therapeutic phlebotomies

No required procedures

EMRs: iKnowmed (clinic) & Cerner (infusion)

Support Staff: Clinic RN, 2 MAs, 2 front office clerks, quality/billing analyst, 3 infusion RNs, and long-term NP

Average Daily Census: 15–21 patients Mon–Thurs (majority scheduled with MD)

Reason for Need: Current locum reaching 1-year limit

Credentialing

Timeframe: 30–60 days

Important: MSO requires full application within 3 days of confirmation

No additional facility credentialing required

Required Skills & Qualifications

Board Certified or Board Eligible in BOTH Hematology & Oncology preferred

Will consider BC/BE in either Hematology or Oncology

Active state medical license – Required

Medical Oncology Fellowship – Required

CA DEA, BLS, ACLS – Required

Malpractice coverage – Highly preferred
