We are currently seeking a Medical Oncologist and/or Hematologist to provide outpatient cancer care in a thriving, modern facility serving the southern Oregon coast.

๐Ÿฉบ Position Overview

  • Open to full-time (80 hours/PP) and part-time (48 hours/PP) candidates

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible within 2 years in Medical Oncology and/or Hematology โ€“ Required

  • Outpatient only โ€” no inpatient consults

  • Average of 10โ€“15 patients per day

  • Coverage ratio: 80% Oncology / 20% Hematology

  • 1:4 call (mostly critical lab calls only)

  • 8-hour day shifts

Job Responsibilities

๐Ÿฉบ Job Responsibilities:

Provide comprehensive outpatient care to oncology and hematology patients
Diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of oncologic and hematologic conditions
Collaborate closely with infusion nurses, pharmacists, nurse navigators, and radiation oncology teams
Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR system
Participate in a 1:4 call rotation, limited primarily to critical lab results
Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and tumor boards
Support and engage in clinical trials and research activities in collaboration with academic partners
Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and uphold best practices
Educate and counsel patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and supportive care options
Collaborate in building a strong referral network and maintaining professional relationships with referring providers
Demonstrate a commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based care

Qualifications

๐ŸŽ“ Qualifications
MD or DO from an accredited medical school โ€“ Required
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Hematology and/or Medical Oncology fellowship โ€“ Required
Board Certified or Board Eligible (within 2 years) in Medical Oncology and/or Hematology โ€“ Required
Active Oregon medical license or eligibility to obtain
BLS certification or willingness to obtain โ€“ Required
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care
Interest in clinical trials, academic collaboration, or practice-building โ€“ Preferred
Familiarity with or willingness to learn EPIC EMR โ€“ Preferred
Ties to Oregon or interest in relocating to a coastal community โ€“ Preferred

Working Hours

Full-Time: 80 hours per pay period
Part-Time: 48 hours per pay period
Work Hours: 8-hour day shifts
Call Schedule: 1:4

Proficient in treatment planning, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies
Strong understanding of clinical protocols and evidence-based cancer care

Ability to effectively coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams, including infusion, radiation oncology, surgery, and pharmacy
Excellent communication and patient counseling skills
