Join a renowned Cancer Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan, seeking a Board-Certified Hematologist-Oncologist for Locum Tenens coverage starting October 1, 2025. Work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team focused primarily on hematology, covering both inpatient consults and outpatient clinic.

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

  • Call: Weeknight Call (5 PM–7 AM) | 1:5 rotation with APP support

  • Setting:

    • Inpatient Consults

    • Outpatient Clinic + Infusion Center (attached to hospital)

  • EMR: Epic

  • Patient Population: Adult & Geriatric

  • Average Volume:

    • Inpatient: 10–15/day

    • Outpatient: 15/day

Job Responsibilities

πŸ“ Job Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive inpatient consults for hematology and oncology patients
Conduct outpatient clinic visits, including follow-ups and new patient evaluations
Oversee and collaborate with infusion center staff on treatment administration
Participate in a 1:5 weeknight call rotation (5 PM–7 AM), with APP support
Perform clinical procedures such as FNA (Fine Needle Aspiration) and biopsies
Engage in Tumor Board discussions and contribute to multidisciplinary case reviews
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and labs
Manage and document care using Epic EMR
Prescribe treatments and therapies appropriate to hematology/oncology cases
Ensure accurate billing and coding in compliance with medical and regulatory standards
Collaborate closely with a team of physicians, APPs, and radiation oncologists
Provide care to adult and geriatric patient populations

Qualifications

βœ… Qualifications:
Board Certification in Hematology and Oncology – Required
Active Michigan Medical License – Strongly Preferred
Open to candidates willing to obtain Michigan licensure
BLS Certification – Required
Minimum 2–3 years of clinical experience in both inpatient and outpatient hematology-oncology – Preferred
Comfortable managing both adult and geriatric patient populations
Proficient in using Epic EMR or able to quickly adapt to it
Skilled in performing FNA (Fine Needle Aspiration) and biopsies
Willing to participate in Tumor Board meetings and collaborate in multidisciplinary care
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a large team
Available to begin locum coverage around October 1, 2025
Ability to manage a balanced patient load in a fast-paced setting

Working Hours

⏰ Working Hours:
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Daily Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Call Coverage:
Weeknight Call: 5:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Rotation: 1:5, with Advanced Practice Provider (APP) support
No weekend clinic hours required
Holidays: Paid if worked
