Job description
OHC (Oncology Hematology Care) is seeking a BMT and Cellular Therapy Physician to join our Leading FACT accredited BMT practice in Cincinnati, Ohio. OHC is a physician owned organization with over 30 years of transplant and cell therapy experience, completing approximately 3,000 cellular therapy procedures to date. The incumbent will manage autologous and allogeneic transplantation, commercial CAR-T, and research studies utilizing allogenic CAR/NK cell therapy, and bispecific antibodies. The BMT team is also supported by a strong phase 1-3 research pipeline in heme malignancies and partnership with Sarah Cannon Research institute.
Job Responsibilities
A Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) oncologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the treatment of patients with blood disorders, hematologic malignancies, and other conditions that may require a bone marrow or stem cell transplant as well as cellular therapy and CAR-T services. A BMT oncologist plays a critical role in the diagnosis, management, and care of patients before, during, and after the transplant procedure.
Qualifications
1. Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
2. Completion of a residency program in internal medicine required along with a fellowship in oncology preferred.
3. Board Certification or eligibility in hematology/oncology.
4. State medical licensure to practice.
5. Strong knowledge of oncology, especially BMT strongly preferred.
6. Excellent communication skills, empathy, and the ability to provide emotional support to patients and their families.
7. Commitment to staying up to date with the latest research and advancements in oncology.
8. Dedication to patient centered care and a multidisciplinary approach to treatment.

1. Diagnosis and Patient Evaluation: He/She will assess patients' medical histories, perform physical examinations, and order diagnostic tests to determine diagnosis and the appropriate treatment plan. He/She will review patients' conditions, including types of cancers, disease stages, and overall health, to determine if a bone marrow or stem cell transplant is a viable treatment option.
2. Treatment Planning: He/She will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including hematologists, radiation oncologists, nurses, and social workers, to develop comprehensive treatment plans for patients. These plans consider the specific type of transplant, pre-transplant conditioning regimens, post-transplant care, and potential complications.
3. Pre-Transplant Care: He/She will work closely with patients to prepare them for the transplant procedure. This involves discussing potential risks, benefits, and alternatives, as well as coordinating any necessary treatments to optimize the patient's health before the transplant.
4. Transplant Procedure: He/She will oversee the actual transplant procedure, which involves the infusion of healthy bone marrow or stem cells into the patient's bloodstream. They closely monitor patients during the procedure to manage potential side effects and complications.
5. Post-Transplant Care: After the transplant, he/she will monitor patients for infections and other complications. He/She will adjust treatment plans as needed to manage these issues and support the patient's recovery.
6. Collaboration: He/She will work in close collaboration with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, and radiologists, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
7. Research and Clinical Trials: He/She will be involved in research and clinical trials to advance the field of bone marrow transplantation. They will explore new treatment approaches, therapies, and techniques to improve patient outcomes. Incorporates evidence based research not clinical practice.
8. Patient and Staff Education: He/She will educate patients and their families about the transplant process, potential side effects, and long-term care requirements. They provide guidance on lifestyle modifications, medications, and follow-up appointments. Also educates and coaches staff members.
9. Emotional Support: He/She will offer emotional support to patients and their families throughout the treatment journey. This involves addressing their concerns, providing information, and helping them cope with the challenges of transplantation.
10. Business protocols: He/She will be familiar with and follow all business protocols for documentation and billing of services including patient procedures and prescription management.
